This 10-year-old transgender model is advocating for other kids
Noella McMaher, a transgender model who is only 10 years old, has been spotted on the runway of New York Fashion Week in February and September.
The Chicago fashionista said, “It’s cool having that title.” It shows that I am open to showing others – it shows me that transgender people aren’t evil.
Noella walked the Runway 7 Show for Trans Clothing Company in February. She opened and closed Renacio’s show on Saturday. It was interesting to try something new, as I tend to do more high fashion power walks. “This time, I was able to tell a story,” the model said.
Dee McMaher and Ray McMaher believe that it is their responsibility to help Noella realize her dreams. This includes advocating for trans children.
Dee explained, “We know that she wants to be an activist for trans kids and that we recognize that is so important in this world, especially in the current political climate that has so many things working against her, including kids like her.”
Noella told her parents at the age of two that she was a transgender girl. They have supported her since then. She wants trans children to be treated the same as other children through her activism. “We were born in the wrong body. We found out – and then, we switched our genders.”
Although she isn’t sure what her future plans are, she has a few short-term goals. She wants to walk the runway at Paris Fashion Week.
